Anna Ward, Assistant Director of Knight Frank's research team, explained, “The number of energy-efficient new homes is steadily increasing, with the second quarter of this year recording the highest number of new homes achieving an EPC A rating.” She added, “We are witnessing a rising demand for these energy-efficient homes, marking a significant shift for the first time in three years. This trend is likely to continue as more buyers consider future environmental regulations and plan ahead.”

The appeal of energy efficiency to homebuyers is not limited to new builds; there is a growing willingness to undertake energy efficiency upgrades in existing homes. Two years ago, only one in five buyers considered such renovations, but now this proportion has increased to nearly 30%, indicating a growing interest in enhancing home convenience and energy performance.
